Description
This unique African necklace is hand-made by women artisans in Uganda. Each necklace is one of a kind. It is made of beads formed from triangles of recycled magazine pages rolled up and lacquered, then combined with glass seed beads into this beautiful piece. The necklace is available in blue, green, red or pink.
These necklaces help the women artisans in Uganda have a regular income and care for their families. Most of the women are widows with little education and no skills. Previously they earned very little money and often their families would go hungry. A Ugandan woman started a project to help these women get an income through making jewellery. Initially they sold their products to local markets but now are partnering with a non profit enterprise who market their beads overseas giving them a more regular income and other benefits to the group.
